Paned i’r Blaned

A space to talk about climate change and to practice Welsh!

The idea of Paned i’r Blaned (a cuppa for the planet) is inspired by things like Climate Cafes; People, Planet, Pint; and Paned a Sgwrs– opportunities for people to discuss climate issues in an informal, community-led setting. With more and more people concerned about climate change, sessions like this are becoming increasingly popular across the world.

The intention of Paned i’r Blaned is to give people a space to come together to discuss environmental issues through the medium of Welsh. Everyone will have the opportunity to propose topics for discussion, which will change every session: from nature and biodiversity to growing food, from energy to transport.

Learners who can speak some conversational Welsh are welcome (or beginners can come and listen!), and we encourage fluent Welsh speakers to come along and give them support!

Vocabulary based on the topic of the month will be on hand to help you, and of course you can ask for an explanation or translation. Menter Iaith have been supporting us to make sure that the sessions flow smoothly and are accessible.

The first Paned i’r Blaned session was held on the 25th of January at Canolfan Cefnfaes, Bethesda, and the other areas have since arranged their first session. Check our Events page to find the latest sessions.

Look out for Paned i’r Blaned in your area – or get in touch if you want to start one!
