GwyrddNi is a community based, community led climate action movement. It brings people together in five areas Gwynedd to discuss, learn and take action locally on climate change.
An all-important part of the is work is to involve local schools through an innovative educational programme to match the ethos and theme of the work in the community. In the Dyffryn Nantlle area we have been working with Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle, Ysgol Talysarn, Ysgol Brynaerau, and Ysgol Rhosgadfan.
During the spring and summer terms of 2022 we held Climate Change workshops with the four schools. Then, during the 2022 autumn term the children and young people were given an opportunity to experience some of the climate solutions that are already being implemented in their communities.
And in November the Dyffryn Nantlle Schools’ Assembly was held in Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle. It was attended by 25 children and young people from Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle and Ysgol Rhosgadfan. During the Assembly the pupils discussed all the places and things that are important to them in their area, before they started a visioning session to see what their area could look like in the year 2040, when we have done everything within our ability to respond to the climate challenge. Following this the crew set about thinking of ideas that could help us get to this positive future. The visions and ideas are sure to inspire you!
